Coyote howlers attract coyotes into range differently than other calls such as rabbit squealers and mouse squeakers. Getting an authentic coyote howl takes practice but can be very effective at letting coyotes know that other coyotes are in the area encouraging them to howl in response.
You can create a full range of howls, yips, yodels, whines and barks.
This call comes with an extendable tube to change the tone and sound of your howl. You can also change the sound by cupping and uncapping your hand at the end of the tube.
Effective use of this call requires practice, in the beginning can sound like a buck grunt. Try either taking a deeper breath or more shallow breath but if you can’t get it right please don’t hesitate to contact us and we’ll talk you through the use of your call.
How to Use Your Call
Blow the siren sound 4 times – once in each direction then look and listen; try again in 3-4 minutes if no results. Early morning or late evening are the best times but you can do this at any time during the day.
Blow the siren in an area that will carry the sound further. Don’t blow into the wind as your call will not carry.
Once you hear the howls don’t continue to siren as the coyotes will only answer once. It takes practice to judge the distance that your call will go and how far the coyotes are away when they answer back.
Your siren will not scare the coyotes but use it sparingly as the coyotes may become wise to you.
Good luck with your call and please don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions or concerns. We would like to see pictures of your success!
